Dr. Michael Feurstein
Following dental school, Dr. Feurstein completed a one- year General Practice Residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, where he was exposed to and trained in the full scope of general dentistry. During his time at St.
Barnabas, Dr. Feurstein received his first exposure to Dental Anesthesia and completed a two-week operating room anesthesia rotation.
After residency, Dr. Feurstein was commissioned as a Captain in the U.S. Army and served for three years as a dentist. During this time, he honed his skills as a general dentist and expanded his knowledge base through extensive continuing education.
In the summer of 2020, Dr. Feurstein matriculated into the three-year Dental Anesthesia Residency program at the University of Pittsburgh / UPMC. Over the course of his residency, he completed rotations throughout the UPMC hospital system, including in internal medicine and critical care medicine, along with operating room general anesthesia and labor and delivery anesthesia. Dr. Feurstein gained extensive experience in the anesthetic management of patients with special needs and pediatric patients through his rotations in the University of Pittsburgh Dental School and UPMC Children's hospital, respectively.
During his residency, Dr. Feurstein also continued to practice general dentistry in a private practice setting. Dr. Feurstein provides the full range of anesthetic care, covering sedations to intubated general anesthesia. Dr. Feurstein considers patient safety to be his first and foremost priority. He feels that his prior experience as a general dentist gives him perspective and allows him to understand the needs of the dentists he works with.
Dr. Feurstein is a Diplomate of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology.
In his spare time Dr. Feurstein enjoys running, gardening, and spending time with his wife and two young children.
